It is critical that you inspect your car's tires on a regular basis for tread damage or signs of significant air loss. A tire that has been punctured or cut is likely to lose air pressure quickly, and this could result in a car that is difficult or impossible to drive safely.

If your tire is bald or has insufficient tread, you should strongly consider replacing it as quickly as possible. Tires that lack sufficient tread won't get proper traction on wet or icy roads. The same may be true if your tire does not have enough air pressure.

However, you should guard against putting too much air pressure in your tires. A digital manual air pressure gauge can tell you how many pounds per square inch (PSI) of air are in a given tire. In some cases, the tire itself will tell you if its not properly inflated.
